The APT research group (Artificial Pancreas Trondheim) and Department of Engineering Cybernetics currently have a vacant PhD position within Optimal Glucose Control. Applications are to be submitted through JobbNorge and the deadline is 6 August 2019.

This PhD project aims to develop model predictive control (MPC) or other versions of optimal control applied to patients with diabetes mellitus type 1. The work may include elements of experimental design, sensitivity analysis, adaptive control, robust control and nonlinear MPC. The control design will be evaluated in simulations and animal experiments. The APT group has access to facilities, staff and other necessary resources for acquisition of data from healthy people and diabetes patients, and the candidate will be involved in the planning and conduction of such experiments as part of a larger experienced team.
