All research projects that are part of the Centre for Digital Life Norway, either as Digital Life funded projects or as partner projects, can apply. The applicant should be the PI of the projects.
The funding should be used for activities identified as necessary to make progress in the innovation process of the project, such as business idea scouting and/or definition, market validation, customer exploration, business modelling, partner search, development of research-based advice to practitioners or policy-makers, etc.
The funding can be used either for hiring external expertise and competency to assist with defined activities or for costs related to travelling to meet with potential customers, users, partners etc.
The funding can not be used for buying materials and equipment or to finance activities defined as research.
For 2019 a maximum amount of 50.000 nok per project for up to 8 projects is available for application.
The project applying for funding has to contribute to the planned activities either in kind or with money. If the TTO is engaged as the external expert hired to assist with the defined activities, a co-payment is required also from them for the application to be approved. The approved funding will be received upon completion of the suggested activities.

Map the current status of the project with respect to the 6 dimensions of the KTH Innovation Readiness Levels (Customer, Business, Innovation Team, IP, Funding and Technology) at the end of this form and give a short description below what the actual status in your project is, maximum 1/2 page.
Next step, plan and budget
Provide a short plan with a list of the activities identified as needed in order to make progress in any of the dimensions of the KTH Innovation Readiness Level toolbox. The activities should preferably be part of a long term plan for the commercial/non-commercial innovation part of the project. For each activity provide a timeplan and budget. The budget has to show the split of cost between the project, the centre and, if applicable, the TTO.
Provide a short description of the goal and the expected status and result after having completed the described activities according to the plan. If the activities are expected to move the project upwards in any of the dimensions of the KTH Innovation Readiness Level toolbox, please refer to which dimension and to which level.
The application will be reviewed by a panel consisting of the Innovation Coordinator, the RRI coordinator, the Centre Coordinator and one of the Coordinators for Data Management, Communication or Training. Final decision will be taken by the Innovation Coordinator and Innovation Leader on the basis of the recommendations given by the panel.
The application will be evaluated against the following criteria:
The suggested activities should have focus on the innovation aspect of the project and be considered necessary to make progress in the innovation process
The suggested activities should possible to accomplish within the given timeframe and budget and be able to give the expected result presented.
The work done by support of this funding and the results obtained has to be summarized in a short report (1-2 pages) that has to be shared with the Centre for Digital Life at the end of the project. The approved funding will be payed upon submission of the report.
